A WIP and sequins everywhere....

Here's a WIP I'm working on:
This is the pattern:
It's older than me! But just as lovely today as it was back when it was published.
It's a baby shawl but so far I think it would be really pretty as a doily too.
At the weekend I bought some really shiny pink and purple sequins and this morning I wanted to have a closer look so I got the plastic tray out and started pulling at the sticky tape that was holding it together and......
....that happened! Sequins everywhere!
All over the floor too :(
But half an hour later I'd got them all organized into tidy little bags
much better :)
I'm thinking about what I can make with them right now. What would you do with them?

  1. The lace shawl/doily is so beautiful and delicate. are brave, especially after the big mess.

  2. So patient to pick up all those sequins and organise them like that. I probably would have lost the plot and hoovered up the lot in frustration. Sequins are too fiddly for me I'm afraid, so no suggestions here from me. They are very pretty colours though.

  3. It would make a lovely doily or 3. Well done picking up and sorting all those sequins :) xx

  4. Lep je milje koji heklaš!
Bravo što si uspela da skupiš perlice:)
Stavi perlice na konac i heklaš nešto ineresantno.

  5. Your pattern looks nice and delicate! I have lot of sequins and generally use them as embellishments for my daughter's dresses and some crafty things.

  6. The doily is pretty. The sequins...oh my...what a mess!!!

  7. do you know, I like doing the fiddly things like organizing things into bags, there must be something wrong with me. lol
    The crochet is beautiful.

  8. I love all of your shawls and the blanket looks like it is going to be a corker too!

  9. That shawl looks beautiful, and it would look great as a doily hehe.

Sequins everywhere, sounds like a nightmare. Shall be exciting to see what you with the sequins :-)

  10. Beautiful shawl/doily. It's going to be gorgeous when it's done. I've never done anything with sequins so I don't have any ideas for you. I don't envy you having to pick them all up off of the floor though. :-)

  11. Hi Elisabeth,

Happy to discover your blog and meet you and many thanks for visiting me.
You have a lovely blog and I look forward to seeing what you are going to make next.
The shawl pattern is so beautiful and your work very neat.
    Wishing you a happy week

  12. elisabeth, is it possible to put some of the beads onto the wool and incorporate them into the crochet? just a thought!
beautiful wip - I love it!

  13. Doily is coming long nicely :) very neat work and I like the pattern too. I do love sequins..the give such shimmer and beauty to simply things!

  14. They dioly is lovely.
I would put the sequins at the border to add weight to the doily and then use it for summer drinks cover, to keep flies away !!

    P.D: I'm making my first shawl :-D

  15. Hi Liz !
Nice doily ! I'll wait to see it finish...
For the sequins...I love the colors you choose, you can sew them on your doily...on the plain parts...

    Have a shinny day !

  16. Lovely doily it's gorgeous. I'd love to make them, are they very difficult for a fairly new crocheter?

  17. Fabulous! Oh the sequins all over would have drove me nuts! I would have lost it! Not sure what to do with them, I did make a christmas ornament one time that was a styrophom ball with sequins stuck with straight pins all over it! Hahaha!
Have fun and I am sure what ever you make it will be stunning!!

  18. Your doily is looking beautiful.

I've got a few bags of sequins myself which I usually use on my cardmaking mainly as centres for my paper flowers to add a bit of sparkle.

  19. Hi Liz
Goodness me this will be an amazing baby shawl - with love worked into every stitch I'm sure. A work of art to become a treasured family heirloom in the future.
    Shane ♥

  20. I can't believe you actually took the time to SORT all those tiny sequins - you ROCK, my girl! Hope you find the perfect right project for them...XOXO
